How to calculate Customs duties and taxes in Vietnam?
Import/Export duties in Vietnam
Almost goods imported/exported in Vietnam are subject to duties. The rates of duty vary and depend on which kind of goods. Consumer goods, especially luxury goods such as cars, alcohol, and cigarettes bear higher rate than raw materials, equipment, and machinery that are used for manufacturing.
There is a remark that all duties must paid before customs cleared. Otherwise you can not collect the goods on time and even face some penalty from customs/government.
Value-added tax (VAT)
Besides to import/export duties, VAT tax is another tax that you should notice. The VAT rates are either 5% or 10%.
